What some don't realize is that the reason why GM and Ford can keep producing V8s is because of their average fleet fuel economy. I.E., the amount of commuter and fuel efficent cars they've produced. The reason why we even have a V8 Mustang today is shockingly enough, thanks to the Mach-E. Dodge kept having to buy credits from manufacturers like Tesla who produces no I.C.E. and it kept them from getting fined and taxed to hell and back by the EPA who are a government sanctioned body and has to go through their approval before it can be sold. Without thosd credits, cars like the Hellcat would skyrocket in MSRP a lot more than what is offered now. Dodge and Chrysler literally have no choice unless they keep raising the prices of even base Hellcats and Scat Packs to much more unreasonable levels and that's not economically viable to sell while still being in business.

Living in this era of GM was strange. Before the GTO and 5th gen camaro came out, you had Chevy throwing SS on everything. The Monte Carlo SS was a V6 that later got a supercharged option before the V8 model was released. Same as the impala, it was a FWD, 300hp car with a terrible transmission. The Impala SS, Bonneville GXP and Grand Prix GXP all shared the same platform for the most part. FWD V8s that could and should have been RWD. I felt that disappointment in this video. We were all feeling the same way around this time. Lol

Straight 6's are awesome, but americana brands need their V8's. Also, instead of pure engine, it would be nice to make any Dodge product to be able to take curves

Had an impala from 07 had rwd etc etc then the SS 2014 wouldn't have been considering any bit "a special car" granted the SS and Pc9 are basically G8s and Camaro cross mixes

That’s no old impala either I’ve driven a Malibu and I know it’s the same thing in weight and that’s one thing that makes a base model impala good especially when it comes to builds like this. People don’t need to worry about all the heavy weight that isn’t needed and instead with a project you can put in every weight and components you think are necessary for the build. Yes this should have originally came from factory to compete with a hellcat charger but really that’s one other newer sedan that would put such horsepower under the hood that will be the only competition that’s American made that it would have so thats probably the reason why they didn’t make a move because not even the ford Taurus SHO came out with a V8 so that’s probably the best reason why Chevy never wasted their time in making cars like this either.
